A lawn that is healthy and well-established can out-compete most weeds and withstand a certain amount of stress from drought, insects, and disease. At Organic Solutions we believe in having a lawn that your family and pets can enjoy for years to come. We focus on using the highest quality, natural-based fertilizer, custom blended for our nutrient programs. Our goal is to promote root growth and soil activity rather than a quick burst of growth by using slow release nitrogen and nutrients in the right combination taken from hundreds of soil samples in our area. A healthy lawns appearance  should be consistent throughout the year rather than having growth spikes just to accomplish color.

One of the most overlooked problems with turf is soil compaction. Insect, diseases, improper watering and a lack of fertilizer are often blamed for a lawns decline when the real culprit is compaction. The problem starts with the top 4 inches of the soil become compressed, impeding the movement of air, water and nutrients to the grass roots. This stresses the grass plants, making them less able to compete with weeds and slow to recuperate from injury.

Benefits of Core Aeration

  • Loosens compacted soil and increases the availability of water and nutrients.
  • Enhances oxygen levels in the soil, stimulating root growth.
  • While removing cores of the soil, the tines also sever roots, rhizomes and stolons. Grass plants are stimulated to produce new shoots and roots that increase density of the turf.
  • Reduces water runoff.
  • Increases the lawn's drought tolerance and improves its overall health.

Broadleaf Weeds

While we perform many one-time treatments to control broadleaf weeds in lawns, we recommend our year-long nutrient program with weed control for best results. Healthy turf and soil is always the best natural deterrent to new weed invasions. We then use the technique of 'spot spraying'  for weeds where possible rather than spreading a blanket application over the entire lawn.

Lawn Insects

Insects can be detrimental to turf grass. Keeping a healthy and well maintained lawn is key to avoid major damage from turf grass feeding insects. Preventative measures can be taken in areas of known insect pressure as well as curative control if an infestation is present.
